Gotcha Covered

Illvibe's Lil'Dave & Little Big Things' Personify recently dropped this ace mix of cover versions spanning a dizzying variety of genres and decades. Dig it...
Philadelphia DJs lil'dave (Illvibe Collective) and Personify (Little Big Things) have joined forces to bring you Gotcha Covered - a genre bending mega-mix of covers songs from the mid-60s to the present. With more than 35 years of DJing and music collecting between them, these fellas dug deep in their collections to pull tracks for Gotcha Covered and spent months mixing, cutting and blending together more than 90 covers spanning Funk, Soul, Jazz, Afrobeat, Latin, Bossa Nova, Boogaloo, Reggae, Steel-Drum Band, Brass Band, R&B and Hip-Hop, to name a few. From the super rare to the under-appreciated and forgotten to the more common cover versions, Gotcha Covered offers up something for the serious digger and the casual listener alike. If you love good music, stop what you're doing, grab a copy of the mix, and prepare to be taken on a tour of some of funkiest and most soulful covers ever laid down. And sorry - no track listing...gotta do your own homework for this one!

Drifting On

Universal Cave just recorded a mix for the long running VoderCast series. We mixed up Rhythm & Sound and Matthew Dear's False with favorites from TUSK wax & Italians Do It Better and topped it off with Throbbing Gristle and Pharaoh Sanders. Put this on at your next after-afterparty or while making your way home at daybreak, and Drift On with the music.

Tom Noble on BIS Radio

Really nice guest mix from "Disco" Tom Noble on Beats in Space a few weeks ago.  Lots of rarities, including Larry McGee's tribute to my hometown of Pittsburgh, The Burg.  That Larry McGee (Pictured above) song is kinda goofy because it was made in the late 1970s and it basically just talks about how awesome and fun Pittsburgh is, which was NOT the case back then - when Pittsburgh was a crumbling city in the middle of an economic seizure of epic proportions.

But I digress, the mix is super awesome, check the tracklist:

1. Larry McGee - The Burg - Boogie Band Records
2. Master Force - Don't Fight The Feeling - Rain Forest Records
3. Dohnnie - Dancin Is Your Love - Posh Records
4. Spellboun' - Dance Your Blues Pt II - Instant Records
5. General Lee - Magic (Pt 2) - Lost Weekend
6. Omni - Strong On You - Fountain Records
7. The Futures - Ain't No Time Fa Nothing - Philadelphia International Records
8. New Holidays - Maybe So Maybe No - Soulhawk
9. The Organization Band - Zero Gravity - Sho State
10. The S.T.U.D. Band - Success - Determination
11. Superbs - Party Together - DT Records
12. Majestics - Class A - New World Records
13. Friends & Strangers - I Don't Want To Be Alone (Tonight) - Mystic Sound
14. - Latin Correction -
15. Bob Chance - It's Broken - Torchlite
16. - Teddy -
17. Jerry Green - I Finally Found The Love I Need - Woodward One
18. Larry Mayfield - Love Crave - Mayfield Records
19. Executive Force - Midnight Lovin' - New Age
20. Satellite - You Can Drive My Space Ship - High Altitude
21. Michael Washington - Everlasting Love - Jam City
22. - Teens In Motion -
23. Kelela - Bank Head
24. Yet To Be Named Tom Noble Disco Project - Holding On - Beats In Space Records

The mix is not up on the BIS soundcloud right now, so you can hear it at BIS Radio's site.

Hold On We're Going Home (DJ Apt One Italienische Version)

Unearthed a remix I once did for popular 1980s Italian HI-NRG singer Drake (nee Aubrizzio Driaggio Grahamino), best known for coining the Italian phrase "si vive una volta sola" (YOLO) and for his role as "Jimmy di Sedia a Rotelle" in the RAI-Italia afternoon special Scuola DeGrazzio. Ripped from a 1985 German 12" Maxi Single version.
