Love Weather Dinner Party

Extra Lovely Records somehow managed to convince occasional DBJ contributor Vincent Smaldone aka DJ Image to open his top secret vault of tapes and share a few highlights. Under piles of random reels and unlabeled floppy discs, they unearthed Love Weather Dinner Party, an experimental turntablism album in the vein of Q-Bert's Wave Twisters, Mixmaster Mike's Anti Theft Device and D-Styles' Phantazmagorea: Psychedelic scratching and distorted drums with heaping helping of forgotten pop culture references make for a far out yet very flavorful Dinner Party.

Listen to a few tracks from the album below and head over to Extra Lovely's Bandcamp to pick up a limited edition (only 50) paint splattered cassette or files.

Instruments Used: 

MPC2000, Homemade Electric Organ, VCR, Sony 1/4" Reel to Reel, Dr. 202, Turntables, Vestax 07 Pro, Vintage Keyboards, 4-track recorder, Adat, SK1. All Samples from vinyl and film. This project was created without a computer.

I'm very excited to once again return to Franky Bradley's for #Hooked - Philly's soiree for the disco classics and the music they inspired. This is one of my favorite parties the world over, and it's gonna be smack-dab in the middle of Pride weekend in the Gayborhood. Shawn Ryan and Del will be alongside on the wheels as we bring you the heat!

But I'm doubly excited because Amy Douglas will be coming down from Boston to join me and sing our Soul Clap Records hit Funk Train. Plus we will be debuting "Get It On," a tune from my upcoming vinyl EP which will be out this fall. This is the first live performance at Hooked and the first live performance of either of these songs anywhere!

If you haven't heard Funk Train yet, here's the legendary Francois K (Prelude Records, Studio 54, Paradise Garage) dropping it in one of his Deep Space sets (@ 28:10):
