DJ Meistro - Jigawa Groove
All time homie and my partner in crime for the monthly party Dirty Bombs in DC, DJ Meistro, recently came back from a summer in Nigeria and brought with him a ton of afro funk, disco, and rock lps and 12"s. I'm jealous.
Anyhow, he put together a killer mix of some of the best tunes he unearthed, called Jigawa Groove. This mix is crazy, full of funk bombs, disco bangers and some really ill psych rock kinda stuff. Check it here:

He also made a great edit of Buari's Iro Le Pa, off of one of the lp's he scored abroad. He actually came up on a few excellent US lps in Nigeria, kinda surprising, but always nice. This one isn't on the mix so be sure to grab it from his soundcloud or yousendit.

On Top Of The Bagel Shop
I was in NY looking for records maybe 6 years ago at Fatbeats and I stumbled across this new release called "World Psychedelic Classics 3: Love's a Real Thing". At the time I was djing almost every weekend for my B-boy crew DvC so I was always looking for that funky record that could separate me from the other DJs at the jams. Here is one record that helped me achieve that goal. The track off "Love's a Real Thing" that always got the room buzzing is called "Better Change Your Mind" by William Onyeabor which for your information is labeled incorrectly on the vinyl. Hope ya dig.

Jimmy Cliff - Peace Officer
Speaking of Danny Krivit and white label edits with shadowy credits, can somebody tell me who does this crazy fucking dub of Jimmy Cliff's Peace Officer?
I think Jellybean Benitez does the ridonkulous Syreeta remix on the other side. If you wanna hear that, you're gonna have to go get your fingers dusty.

Throwback 2 Classics
Here are two classic Hip-hop joints to brighten up your day "Who's Gonna Take The Weight" Gangstar and "All For One" Brand Nubian. These tracks always bring back happy memories for me and seem to lift any room I'm spinning to a better place, Heaven Maybe lol. I have to comment on the way Dj Premier cuts on the Gangstar track, man he just got flavor. Hope ya dig. Enjoy

Robots In Heat
San Francisco's Robots In Heat just blessed the world with a new mix of deep & funky prog, folk and cosmic jams. As I write this I'm on my third listen and I can only identify "that one thing DJ Shadow sampled that one time". Feel free to leave comments if you can come any closer with track IDs - I'd love to know what half of this stuff is. The sequencing of this mix is top notch too. RIH clearly worked hard to string these grooves together into a cohesive package, complete with smooth, seamless transitions. This ranks with Henrik Schwarz, Âme & Dixon's The Grandfather Paradox as one of the best mixes I've heard this year. Anyone who had RVNG's Purple Brain mix in heavy rotation needs to give this a listen.
Obscured By Crowds comes our way courtesy of Noncollective, who are curating a collection of quality mixes. Be sure to head over to their site for more.
And for those of you not familiar with Robots In Heat's site, he's been ripping and posting mysterious jams for the past couple years. Definitely check it out for a daily dose of WTF?

Computer
Yes, I'm talking computers baby.
Haven't you ever wondered about new technology
It plays a major role in our society
I know you think it's so cool to own all those machines
But in the future we'll be doomed cuz they'll own everything
COMPUTER
Ooooh kay. Morris Day-esque technology concept album from the dude who (according to Discogs) went on to produce E-40's Dusted and Disgusted and a bunch of other 90s rap from the Bay. However, if you ask me, Discogs is probably wrong - I don't think you put out a soul-heavy electrofunk LP on Atlantic in 1985 and then disappear for almost 10 years and re-emerge as a mob music producer.
Regardless, this is some wild shit.
