Let's All Chant (Re-edit)

Who doesn't love the classic Michael Zager jam "Let's All Chant"? This record frequently finds a way into my disco/funky sets, but I wanted to produce a high energy re-edit so I whipped this up. Thank you Michael Zager for the drop and the phone call! Shout out to one of my favorite Philly groups SuperPrince for mastering the track for me!

Falling Out Of Love

Sharegroove's DJ Duckcomb touched up a cosmic obscurity, removing some cheese. According to Duckcomb, "Parts of the song sound edited but aren't! Dig the cosmic synths and heavy guitars on here... enjoy!"

Switch

I'm Back at it supporting DBJ with a edit of the song "We Like To Party...Come On" by "Switch". Love this track but it really needed a decent edit so I did some work to it. Hope all my funky disco heads enjoy it! Thanks for listening.

Cops, Crooks & Spies

Here's an interesting collaboration between Butta Brothers Marsellus Wallace and Skeme Richards. Marsellus on soundtrack selection duties and Skeme adding dialogue from his VHS collection. The end result is an immersive journey through the seedy side of 70s crime. Stream the mix on Soundcloud or download it from Mediafire.

Predictable Miracles

Work Drugs have a new album on the way, and Predictable Miracles is the first single. They describe it as a "farewell letter to chillwave." Perhaps we should expect some new sounds from Philadelphia's chillest? Find out at their secret record release show somewhere in the depths of Fishtown.

Michael The Lion - Funk Train 12" (Soul Clap)

I'm very happy to finally announce the new single from my funky alter-ego Michael The Lion - a vinyl-only joint on Soul Clap called "Funk Train." This one has been in the works for a while, but it's well worth the wait. Heavy bass-driven funk with the amazing Amy Douglas on vocals and yours truly playing a whole buncha instruments including the guitar he got for his Bar Mitzvah back in 1996. Mixing by the singular mister Sammy Bananas.

When we last checked in with Michael The Lion, he was remixing Todd Edwards and Robert Lux on Young Robots, so the bar was kind of high for the next release. Enter Soul Clap, some of the globe-trottinest, funk-lovinest, beard-havinest dudes. Amy had worked with them before, my sometime collaborators FSQ had worked with them before, so this one comes fully out of their "Crew Love" concept. My tune (and the A-side, a sublime cut by Juice Belushi) were staples on the Crew Love summer tour, and the boys graciously asked me to lend my cut to this 12". Really, really, very truly honored to be a part of the fam.

In a strange twist - this record actually came out in early October ... and SOLD OUT on presales alone, so we shelved the advertising push until we had a record to sell. So I'd suggest that you cop this record ASAP, because if it sold out once with no advertising, who knows about the second time around!

Many thanks for all the support as always from DBJ family.  I got to test drive some of this (and other forthcoming) Michael The Lion material in front of many of you in San Francisco, Toronto, Paris and elsewhere this past year, and I'm very grateful for the opportunity.
