NO HALF STEPPIN - DJ Neil Armstrong at Hot Mess

Philadelphyinz is very proud to present an evening with one of the world’s premier DJ talents, and an all-around amazing individual - DJ NEIL ARMSTRONG.

It all goes down at Hot Mess at Silk City, First Friday, May 7th.

“If you care to read about Neil’s laundry list of incredible accomplishments like being Jay-Z’s tour DJ or rocking it at the NBA All-Star game in front of 100,000 people, you can, but let me just tell you that Neil is not only an amazing DJ but also one of the foremost influences on me as a DJ.

When I was in my late teens, I was lucky enough to play a number of shows with Neil and learn the tricks of the party rocking trade from one of the masters. A lot of what I do comes directly as a result of Neil’s influence and his willingness to stay in touch with a young, up-and-coming DJ like I was and impart his wisdom and positivity about music. Even to this day, globetrotting with Jay-Z, playing at Obama’s inauguration and more, he’s still got time to chop it up with me about music and the game.

Neil spends most of his gigs rocking places like Madison Square Garden, Glastonbury and Cowboy Stadium, in front of tens, sometimes hundreds of thousands of people - this is a very RARE opportunity to see one of the masters in an intimate environment at Silk City, so make sure to mark your calendar and join us at Silk on May 7th.

In the spirit of Neil's game-changing "Originals" mixtape series from the days of yore (which every digger should own), here's an "original" from one of the great rap classics.

Silk City this Wednesday + Confusion

This Wednesday I'm playing with The Model, Sgt. Sass & Joe Lentini at Silk City. Many genres will be represented, worshiped, combined, desecrated, warped, rebuilt and shot into the core of the earth.

I'm not sure what any of this has to do with New Order or Arthur Baker, other than that Johnny from The Model probably loves New Order and Joe Lentini may worship Arthur Baker. Anyway, Arthur Baker has done numerous remixes of New Order's "Confusion", but my favorite is the 12" mix from 1983. Also, the video is a must see for any fan of dance music. Arthur Baker with reel to reels, Jellybean Benitez at the Funhouse, and early 80's NYC club kids!

Also, I wish our visitors left comments more frequently. We love to hear from you!
