Honey Soundsystem on Beats In Space

It's a safe bet that all of you Jammers are fans of Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space radio show on WNYU, or I would be posting BIS mixes every week. This week is special though! Not only did DBJ homies Honey Soundsystem do a spectacular mix for the show, they also included Superprince's Say It from the recently released Philadelphia Maneto compilation!  As long time BIS fans, Peter Dragontail and I are so stoked to hear one of our tracks on the show. Alien Alien

Discaire is back with some wiiiicked dark late night techno by Alien Alien. In their own words:

Hugo Sanchez and Rodion of ALIEN ALIEN (GOMMA / ESKIMO) return from a cosmic voyage out in deepest, blackest space back to Earth with a new release for DISCAIRE - THE NIGHTS EP. From their interstellar expedition the pair conjures up dark sounds submerged deep in an abandoned nightclub basement once frequented by a distant, technologically advanced civilization.

Face Love Anew

Today, San Francisco's Honey Soundsystem & Berlin's CockTail d'Amore released stereogamus' riiiiiidiculously good debut single, Face Love Anew, and on limited vinyl to boot! Stereogamus' production game is tight & the remixes are both excellent, but Shaun J. Wright's vocals really push it over the edge. You might recognize Shaun as a vocalist for Hercules And Love Affair. Like on the Hercules tracks, he delivers a huge, soulful performance. I rarely say this, but don't sleep - this is going to be huge!

Order the 12" from Dark Entries Records or grab the digital release (with additional remixes from Kim Ann Foxman, Horse Meat Disco, Miracles Club & The Carry Nation) on December 11 from any of the usual outlets.

First Contact...

The Discaire Society of Gentlemen recently made contact with the outside world via a 12" release. Not much is known of the society, though they may have ties with San Francisco's Honey Soundsystem. I emailed the Soundsystem & they will neither confirm nor deny ties with Discare. The 12" contains a track by Berlin via Italy's Discodromo, who were also featured on the Soundsystem's Brotherhood compilation.

"A synth-house workout inspired both by the dub sound of Basic Channel & lashings of Moroder-style synth. Dense liquid sounds riding a metallic rhythm track. Beautifully packaged in a confidential hand stamped manila file with accompanying briefing documents and the password to an x-rated video piece by gold~n~sour (produced exclusively for Discaire)."

Brotherhood

I just received my copy of the Honey Soundsystem's recent Brotherhood compilation in the mail today. Fans of vintage disco & house take note - this 13 track CD is loaded with excellent edits, originals & obscurities (a tape edit of Maurice from 88?!). So far my favorites are Filthy Luka's Missing You, Gaye Marvin's (of Secret Mixes & Fixes fame!) edit of Lost in Music & the Discodromo cut. Have a listen below.
